For the past two years, my work has been chosen for the Early American Life Directory! Look for my special line of Early-American themed quilts created for the directory.

"Inclusion in the Directory of Traditional American Crafts is an honor bestowed on a handful of artisans who work in traditional media, styles, and crafts, an award that singles out their work as the best now produced in America today. Each year a jury of museum curators, collectors, and other authorities selects the work of the top traditional crafters working in America to be honored and listed in the Directory, which appears in Early American Life magazine."

GOT GAME by Loretta Radeschi
Sandy Malamed creates art worthy quilts by playing with color and design.

Sandy Malamed readly admits
she loves to play-with ideas, with color, ,with fabric. From her playfulness comes an array of small quilts, whimsical in nature, free form in style and replete with Sandy's imagination. She delights in the spontaneityof her style.
"I don't d o a lot of planning," Sandy explained, as she described the process that results in eyecatching primitive style picture quilts. In fact, Sandy doesn't do any preliminaly planning or sketching. "Unlike tradtional quilting where one has to plan the colors, cut all the pieces, make sure the seams are eaual, the stitches precise and the proper shape when it's done. I sit at my work table, choose from an abundance of fabric and begin to sew."continue reading
