city folk invite fall 2010

"I've become a juggler, I suppose. It's all a big circus, and nobody who knows me believes I can manage, but sometimes I do...."

It seems that we have allowed ourselves to become the nation of the over-scheduled, over-committed, & over-tired. The holiday season is one to be enjoyed.  Why schlep to the mall with its crowds, mass produced gifts, under-staffed stores &  disinterested sales associates?

Try something new.... gift shopping that is as enjoyable as gift giving!  Relax and sip a glass of wine in a beautiful country setting while you select from hand made one of a kind gifts from our artists, or create your own in one of our "make & take" workshops.

We cannot wait to help you choose the perfect gift for most everyone on your list!

Thank you for supporting local artists.

Lynn McMurray: Works in Wool Fiber & Vintage Treasure
Lynn transforms the traditional art of rug hooking to a funky, contemporary style.  Lynn mixes her own dye to create a unique pallet of colors.  The wool is then hand cut into strips looped through a linen foundation using a hook-shaped tool.  These "hooked" elements can then be  transformed into a variety of projects ranging from area rugs to chair cushions, brooches, pillows, purses, the possibilities are endless.  We are in for a treat this year as Lynn as decided to open-her tins full of vintage bakelite and part with some of her treasured beads & buttons!  She has used them to create lovely bakelite charm bracelets in sterling silver .

May McNally: Silver Smith, Handcrafted Jewelry
With her blow torch & hammer May transforms sheets of sterling silver into jewelry that you will love to wear.  Looking for the perfect  gift?  Give  something one of a kind made by this talented silver smith. Choose from a wide selection of hand made silver jewelry.  Custom jewelry is fun to wear and even more exciting if you work with the designer to create it!  Take a moment to discuss your ideas with May and be amazed by the results. This year May will even let you have a chance to try it yourself.  Hand stamp a piece of jewelry in her workshop (see details below).
